Cipollino
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
This marble consists mainly of calcite, which is coloured reddish brown by red hematite in varying concentration. The thin calcite layers are separated by fine mica layers due to which the intensive folded structure stands out.
Petrogenesis
The marble was generated from former lime deposits. These sediments were subjected to high pressure and temperature during orogenesis. A fine, crystalline structure was formed by this. Previously imbedded clay changed into fine mica flakes, clearly following the intensive folding.
